I used Heredis when I first got a Mac in 2014. It looked lovely but then started to crash constantly for no apparent reason. Support were hopeless at resolving the problem, so I ditched it.
A Genealogy software program does help in that it connects to popular websites directly and all the info you have entered into your file about your ancestor is ready to be used in your search. They are extensive in what they can do, but you do not have to learn everything about the program to get started. I thought I’d try it again and so bought Heredis 2020 yesterday. What an idiot!
It looks horrible these days compared to a few years ago. I tried to import my Gedcom. I’ve passed it through Gedcom validators and they all say it’s okay. Rootmagic imports it okay, so does FTM, and a couple of others
Heredis fails and says see the log file for why. Pressing the button to see it has no effect. SO I can’t see the log file
Oh, and it suddenly puts up messages in French which isn’t good although I can read it but that’s not the point.
I tried to contact support but th link on the menu doesn’t work.

What a disaster. Fortunately I paid only 50% of the normal price a mere $30 US, but they have it, and I don’t. Nor do I have software that is any use at all.
My experinece may not be typical, but I certainly won’t be going near it again.
Biggest Pro: None whatsoever
Biggest Con: Doesn’t import a perfectly good Gedcom
